Maintenance Agreement Deception
Maintenance Agreement Deception could be cause for class action lawsuit
Major retailers often renew service maintenance agreements over the phone. The maintenance agreements often look deceptively similar to the agreement previously purchased and cost the same as they did the previous year. When consumers submit items for repair, they often find that the agreement now only covers a small portion of the repair costs, not 100% as the previous year. Leaving the consumer to pay for the repairs.
At this time, we know of no lawsuits having been filed against any of these retailers.
If it is proven that these retailers are engaging in fraudulent business practices, the retailers could be subject to a class action lawsuit brought against them by consumers who have sustained monetary damages a result of this problem.
